Release: County Announces Steve Kuck As Emergency Medical Services Coordinator

New Appointee Brings Extensive Experience, Knowledge To Position With The County

FONDA - County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort and Emergency Services Director Jeffery T. Smith announced on Monday that Steve Kuck is serving as the new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Coordinator for Montgomery County.

Kuck, who officially began in the position late last year, replaces Sean Piasecki, who served in the role for 10 years. Kuck was appointed to this part-time position by Director Smith and reports directly to the Office of Emergency Management.

Some of Kuck's duties will include responding to fire and emergency scenes, ensuring available medical response, administering and running the county's Mutual Aid Plan and keeping EMS equipment up to date and accounted for.

"Steve has a lot of experience in EMS," Ossenfort said. "He is hard-working and will be a good fit in this position. Our entire Emergency Management team devotes many hours to keeping our residents safe. Many of these professionals are part-time, yet they consistently go above and beyond to make sure the county is prepared."

Kuck was a Paramedic Supervisor for Rural Metro and has served as the Deputy Coordinator for the county since 1994. He has also served on the board at Adirondack-Appalachian Regional Emergency Medical Services Council (AAREMS), which serves the counties of Delaware, Hamilton, Fulton, Montgomery, Otsego and Schoharie, and he assists in the operation of Access Transportation, Inc., out of Fort Plain.

The EMS Coordinator is responsible for the plans, coordination and implementation of trainings for all of the emergency medical personnel throughout the county.

Smith has tasked Kuck with creating relationships with adjoining counties and their EMS Coordinators. Kuck will also be informing contiguous county partners about what Montgomery County can and will offer, in case of an emergency incident, while also establishing what those counties could provide if a incident took place in this county.
